A Little Affair
Kalsum Sinare, Eddie Nartey, Adjetey Anang, Kafui K. Danku, Ebi Bright, Asibi Awemi
A Little Affair’ is not your conventional type of a movie. Rules are meant to be broken. It’s a movie that broke some of the essential rules in film making. It is usually a hero’s triumph and a villain’s death or disaster at the end of a movie. In this movie, Adjetey Anang played Prof Ken. As a young professor, young ladies on campus find solace in getting close to him because of his affable looks. Two of his students start getting funny ideas as they try getting close to him. They had fallen heel in love…He saw the sudden closeness as a lecturer-student relationship but to the ladies, it was students trying to woo their lecturer. This closeness forces his uncompromising and busy-girlfriend-always-running-errands for her dad to be jealous and complained.
Girl: He pushed himself into me and it hurt
Inspector: Were you a virgin before?
Girl: No, but that was the biggest thing that ever entered me.
Best Quote: “When it comes to money, everybody is a mathematician”
-Story: [4 out of 5] To be honest, I only watched this movie because of Adjetey Anang. I needed a movie to watch and this movie had two thing sticking out for it: 1) It did not cast Artus Frank 2) Adjetey Anang was in it. You have to agree with me that Adjetey is one of those very few actors whose movies you can always be sure of…. well maybe not always but for the most part. This movie starts off like every other movie. 30 minutes into the movie and I’m like ‘ok! Anytime now’. Do not get me wrong those 30 minutes were not filled with people driving in and out of houses or some stupid unnecessary conversation with unnecessary characters. By the end of the movie you really understand that everything was placed in that way for a reason. With a title like that though, the only thing I expected was a typical Prince David and Martha Ankomah movie, just without Prince and Martha but this was nothing of the sort.
-Originality: [0 out of 5] It’s the same story as every other stepmother story. The only difference is that this story has been turned waaaay upside down and shaken up a million and one time thereby making it a totally different story…if you follow my logic.
UPDATE: Apparently, I spend all this time watching Bollywood movies so I can cross-reference the theft from Venus Films (well that and the fact that I actually enjoy their movies), that I don’t keep up with Hollywood. Na so movie makers go take copy entire American movies and me sef go dey praise them. Thankfully someone has alerted me to the fact that this movie is a rip (Thank. You. Flint!). The movie, “A Little Affair” is a rip of the 1998 American movie, “Wild Things” starring Kevin Bacon and Matt Dillon. Now that I think about it sef, when it comes to theft of intellectual property in Ghallywood, Venus Films might be carrying first right now but AA Productions is most definitely a close second.
-Predictability: [4 out of 5] I had the end pinned after the first 10 minutes. Then I revised it and had it pinned after 20 minutes, then again at 30 then 50 then every bloody second after that. This movie was literally an array of WTFs (where’s the fridge), whoa’s, What?, and Wows. For some reason, even though this movie had more twists than “Bed of Roses“, Bed of Roses had more hype.
-Directing/Editing: [4 out of 5] Awesome directing. Awesome editing. Awesome production. But above all, awesome cinematography.
-Acting Quality: [2 out of 5] I think it’d be easier to list the people who could definitely act in this movie and they would be Ebi Bright, Adjetey Anang, the judge, the lawyer, Eddie Nartey, Kalsum Sinare and the police officers… Everyone else should please go to acting school. Well, I guess KKD could act to a certain extent but I will admit that in the beginning of the movie her acting was really annoying.
-Settings and Costumes: [2 out of 5] For the most part, this was on point, I wasn’t exactly in love with most of KKD’s outfits though. I would however like to point out that putting a table and two flags in a room does not qualify as a police inspector’s office.
-Video and Audio Quality [4 out of 5] Good.
-Soundtrack [3 out of 5] At this juncture, I would like to say that Austin Erowele does as Austin Erowele does. (Although sometimes he is crappy)
Finally, something that doesn’t have Artus Frank.
this movie is about 95% rip off of a hollywood movie by the name wild things.
Really? Thank you for letting me know… I’ll look into it and adjust the review if need be
