Because some of us in the diaspora do not have access to the wealth of shows available on TV in Nigeria (i.e. Hush, The Governor, Tinsel, etc), the next item on our #2016YearInReview follows only the web series that we have seen this year.
5) Rumour Has It
The consensus is not 100% which is why this is number 5 on our list. This Ndani TV series based loosely on a true life story stars Uru Eke in the lead role and followed the life of a successful blogger and her struggles especially in her personal life.
4) This Is It
This Is It is an online web series that premiered in 2016 by Lowladee. The show features Chiagoziem and Nick Mutuma (from Kenya) in the lead and follows the life of two clueless newlyweds adapting to their new life.
3) Husbands of Lagos
This iroko tv original by Mary Njoku, has our hearts for its combination cast and lovely storyline. It follows different couples in Lagos and their varying hilarious problems. It has created characters that are unforgettable for the viewers.
2) Skinny Girl in Transit
Number 2 on our list is Skinny Girl in Transit! With two seasons in one year (and if they had managed to put in more, we would have lapped it all up), SGIT has garnered a solid fan base and has come a long way from the first season. The show has characters that we can relate to and the transformations on screen make the cast feel like family
1) Jenifa’s Diary
Jenifa’s diary stays a classic because comedy is always number one in this industry (it seems) and Funke Akindele has the formula. Jenifa has transformed into a household name over the years but we can’t seem to get enough of it.

Skinny girl in Transit! yay! Well Tola they are all good series. I’d say This is It and Skinny Girl for me. It’s hard to choose one. They both give me different satisfaction but you are right though, critique wise This is It will have to take the lead. It’s all just top notch but not for everybody I think. Hey you should do a TV list too btw!

From a critque’s point of view. Story to directing to delivery. This is it is number 1. No contest. By the time they have more seasons I wonder the screen magic. Jenifer’s diary Is not a Web series. Plus how did it get on the list?? Except this is a viewer’s choice list
