-Story: [2 out of 5] I really do have to establish before anything that I’m not a fan of Nollywood comedy. I only watched this movie because there had been many comments left on NR claiming that the movie was beyond hilarious, even more hilarious than “Dumebi the dirty girl” (and even me that hates Nollywood comedy, was quite entertained by Dumebi so I had to go and see for myself this movie that was funnier than sweet mango Dumebi). I personally did not think ‘Wisdom of Thomas’ was that funny. Granted, it had its hilarious moments but… come on.. Dubem was hilarious!
-Originality: [3 out of 5] The concept was definitely original, I give that to Tchidi
-Predictability: [0 out of 5] But when we have a movie like this, a lot of things are a given… i.e. predictability
-Directing/Editing: [2 out of 5] What I love the most about Tchidi Chikere movies is that it’s almost always in 2 parts (I haven’t seen one longer than two parts of recent, but I have to say ‘almost’ because nothing is immune from change). I don’t think I (or any normal person for that matter) would have been able to endure this flick for longer than 140 minutes either. My problem was mostly with the cinematography and the subtitles. How about we get better camera men? Some (/most) of the igbo spoken in this movie, wasn’t subtitled and if we are ever aiming for a global appeal we have to learn to stop making others feel left out.
-Acting quality: [3 out of 5] Funke!!! Ah! I swear the lady is hilarious but I’m still waiting for the movie that will take her out of this cliched Jenifa role. We all know she did TROJ but it seems after that, nobody (except “Married and Living Single” which I’m yet to see) seems willing to give her a role that breaks out of that stereotyped ditch she seems to have unconsciously fallen into with the movie “Jenifa”. Nkem Owoh was hilarious and effortless as always. Love Michael Godson but the person that really got me was Oma Nnadi! If the inner workings of Nollywood were straight, I’d be able to stand strong and say that this lady will definitely be huge in the upcoming year… but… nothing is straight in Nollywood so we’ll have to watch and see. Guest appearance by Solomon Akiyesi (because I refuse to refer to those measly two scenes he did as actually acting in the movie). Everyone else’s acting was questionable but fortunately, everyone else wasn’t on screen for that long. Abraham Nwodo still has to do a little bit more work in being convincing
-Setting: [2 out of 5] Adequate
-Costume/Make-Up: [2 out of 5] Ok
-Props and Graphics: [2 out of 5] Good
-Video Quality: [1 out of 5] Could have been better
-Audio Quality [2 out of 5] Fair enough
-Soundtrack: [1 out of 5] Tells the story and was based on Gyptian’s “Hold Yuh!”
-Musical Score: [3 out of 5] Ok
Where can i get the song in this movie that is based on the song gyptian hold yuh or the soundtrack for this move please
Can sum1 pls tell me where to download the soundtrack?? Thanx
Sister, I no gree totally for this your review ooo. I LOOVVVEEEEDDDDD this movie. Nkem Owoh of course was IT. FUNKE AKINDELE!!! OMG!!! WOW!!! That’s all I can say. Mercy Johnson was great, awesome, tremendous in Dumebi but she was the only one that brought it. In this one, everyone did. In my own opinion ooo, it was better than Dumebi. But then again, it is my opinion. Ciao.
Nne I no gree. This movie didn’t hold a touch to Dumebi… well… maybe it did. Sha, me I’ve resigned for Nollywood comedies.
I shall leave the genre alone and hopefully it leaves me alone too o.
Wow, I was at my office cafeteria today at lunch time and coincidentally, this was what was showing on African magic. I’m so glad to see it here cos this is the first nollywood movie I’ve seen in like ages. Makes me feel like I’m in tune with Nollywood. lol
I think the movie was quite nice, I’m certain people that enjoy nollywood will tremendously enjoy it. Funke was really good even though her actions were a bit exaggerated.
In as much as I didn’t see the movie to the end, I think it was quite good. It sparked a debate between my colleagues on whether or not a woman can be that unfaithful to her husband and how patient a husband can possibly be.
Ok, I’m not even sure if I should be happy that you’ve finally seen a Nollywood movie or I should be apprehensive that this is the one you saw… but you seem to have been entertained by it (yay!) so… do I see more Nollywood movies in your future? lol
Hehe funke’s actions are always exaggerated. It is the cliche’d ditch she has unconsciously fallen into with Jenifa!
Hian, I shudder to think that there is a female out there that is this unfaithful but then again nothing is impossible, especially in Nigeria.
pls review guilty threat its on irokotv
Will do. I’ll try to get the review published ASAP
