It is very rare that I wish a six part movie could go on for longer but I did. Kept looking at the amount of parts left and wishing it was longer. This was a well-crafted, well told and very creative story. Easily going to be in my top ten of the year.
The storyline weaves two stories together masterfully, enough that you are invested in both equally and that both storylines interact with themselves beautifully. The plot is original and so unpredictable; it keeps you on the edge of your seat and the end achieved that balance between happy and unhappy. The characters were very relatable, very interesting and you really start to get invested in them- well you’d have to, it’s been over three hours- and the suspense mostly comes from whether they get their happy endings or not. It does dwell on some unnecessary parts, and a big critic is that sometimes the filmmakers do not realise that the audience isn’t privy to some information that they have, so sometimes you can get lost in the whole thing. The confusion gets cleared up, but still, those few minutes of confusion are enough to stick.
The acting was superb, top notch cast and Eve Esin really was impressive. Pete Edochie,Yul Edochie, Patience Ozokwor, what more can you ask for? You know you are getting something good. I love that Ernest Obi has come back to acting and directing.
The directing was fantastic, and the production values great but what everyone is talking about is the special effects. As with all Nigerian movies, some were big misses but when they had a hit, it was a gigantic one. Inventive and very ambitious, I was honestly tripped. The filmmakers should definitely be patted on the back and encouraged more, although do not expect it to be all smooth sailing; it’s still a Nigerian film with a Nigerian budget. The practical effects also were inventive and just so creative; this was a pleasure to watch. The film scoring was off on the other hand, just repeats of the same piece of music.
In conclusion, see how I am begging you to watch it, it was just so good. I would most definitely watch this again and I think you would too. BTW the actresses in this movie were very comfortable with snakes, just too much at ease.
